Question about signing youngsters

Recommended Posts

I had my eye on a 16 year old. To offer a contract I would need to pay 500k with it rising to 1.3 in the future. I only have 300k to spend so I left it. The next day Bristol City get the player, still 16, for free. How is this? Does the tribunal fee just not show up the player history?

i have noticed this before. when you go to bid for a newgen or a regen in the transfer screen it says who is interested in him and the AI clubs can have (free) listed next to the transfer but the human club can only bid a value.

if you 'approach to sign' a youth player, then the original club gets a compensation. What the CPU clubs did was to make a bid of 0, which the original club accepted because they did not value the player. They probably had a '% of next sale' clause in there.

the compensation for approach to sign is automatic, so you need to offer 0 to get players that arent viewed highly by their clubs for free
