If you have a shortcut on your desktop you can do the following:

Right-click on the FM shortcut.

Choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu.

In the "Target" field, add the --reset_preferences command line option after "fm.exe", so it should look like this:

"C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\fm.exe" --reset_preferences

Press OK and then try to run the game as normal, using the shortcut.

Try this

Delete the following folder:

XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\settings

Vista: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\settings

This may solve some issues regarding the XML Errors

Hey, Sorry to hear it hasnt worked. The whole process took me about an hour to do. First if you try whats on this thread: http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?t=115763 the post By Stu warren about defragmenting your disk. Then do Bardi's suggestion of deleting your cache (on the same thread. Then finally a full manual un-install outlined in this thread: http://community.sigames.com/showpost.php?p=2788666&postcount=4?

I'm sure you have gone through all this already but it might be worth a try doing it once more then re-installing the game and see if that helps.

Your internet security isnt the problem, it happened with me and I use AVG.

Sounds like your save game could well be corrupted. What is the save games file size, and do you have any back-ups of the save, or any save games from earlier in your game to compare it with?
