Charlton Athletic Challenge

Charlton Athletic used to be an average premiership team finishing mostly mid table for seven years.

After fifteen years in management with Charlton Atletic, Alan Curbishley left the club in 2006 and Ex Crystal Palace boss Iian Dowie was installed as the new manager in may 2006.

But after only Two wins in twelve league matches Iian Dowie was sacked, with Les Reed his replacement.

However he too failed to improve Charlton's position in the league table and on Christmas Eve 2006, Reed was replaced by former player Alan Pardew.

Although results did improve, Pardew was unable to keep Charlton up and relegation was confirmed in the penultimate match of the season.

Chatlton Athletic were Relegated to the Coca-Cola Championship in 2007 after Seven years in the Premiership.

The Clubs first year in the championship was disapointing, with them looking hopefulls for straight promotion back to the premiership they only managed to finish Eleventh.

The Aim:

The aim of this challenge is to take Charlton Athletic back to the dizzy heights of the Premiership and regain a steady mid table finish or better and beat the clubs record attendance of over 75,000.

Starting the season with no transfer money and the club heavily in debt this is truly a big challenge.

The Rules

You may not move clubs unless you are sacked.

If you get sacked, you can either start again or reload to your last save game point.

International management is allowed, as you complete this challenge.

Parent clubs and feeder clubs are allowed.

No external utilities such as FMScout should be used and the database should be unedited. Should SI release a data update, this would be allowed. It is advised that people should update using the latest patches as they are released.

When you join the challenge, could you post a screenshot of your manager's profile and of anything else of importance.

Progress of your club should be documented using this thread, we want to hear the story of your club all the way through. Please keep us updated, even if you are doing really badly.

At the end of every season, could everyone post some kind of season review, including at least a screenshot of a league table and the clubs transfer page. If you give this a title in bold it makes it a bit easier to pick out.More rules might follow!

Its been a fun start but an hard one. The players didnt seem to want to play together and they couldnt string 2 passes together but hopefully with abit of confidence and getting use to the style of play we start playing good football.

This is allways the problem i have had when managing charlton, the players just dont car and dont want to play.

I'm at the January Transfer Window right now and it looks well for me. I'm sitting on 4th position with all teams having completed 25 games already. 12W 10D 3L. Here are some screenies..

I certainly hope that i'll be able to get into playoffs. I am only able to get on with FM once a day for about an hour. I have a crazy hectic work schedule! And everybody is working like mad just to keep their jobs, i am no different. Haha..
