CL clearances

i tried to post this 5 mins ago but my title was apparently not good enough so lets try again

im thinking about buying a player who has played in the uefa cup for his team, and im a CL team and want to know if he, like in real life, would be able to play in the CL as well?

The thing is, in real life, they aren't eligable to play in the CL until the knockout stages if they've made a UEFA Cup appearance (that's why Rafa pretty much gave up on Gaz Baz in the summer after he'd played for Villa in the UEFA Cup). If Diarra had played in the UEFA then joined Real Madrid right at the end of the summer, he wouldn't have been able to register for the CL until after the group stages.

Not sure how this is reflected in the game though.

i've already bought him but lets hope that he qualifies because ive really got no substitue for him, its aguero by the way

well in fm08 he was given clearance to play, dont know if its still like that in fm09

he only played 2 qualification games, dont know if that matters...
