Have you ever signed anyone purely to tutor a youngster?

Have you ever signed anyone with good mental stats purely to tutor one of your youngsters (or perhaps for their PPMs)?

I have once or twice. Usually an older player who would only really play in the event of an injury crisis but whose mental attributes are definitely worth passing on. Not that I'm certain which ones get passed on and which don't. It definitely helps determination.

I used to sign Paulo Di Canio for such duties at the end of my first season in FM08

I even broke the bank and paid 7m for a Inter Milan regen for him to train.

yeah i brought in Edgar Davids, David BEckham etc etc the players of the past

alot of them tend to be youngsters fav players at some stage too

I have occasionally signed Sami Hyypia, where possible, to tutor up-and-coming CB's at various clubs. He's an excellent choice and not too shabby a player either

Yeah. Back in 07 I think it was PPM's were broken (iirc there was a problem that meant "Shoots with Power" was changed to a 80% change with all the others split in the 20%), I would sign old strikers who had Places Shots to train youth.

I remember signing an aged Michael Owen and Mark van Bommel purely for passing on their high determination attributes. They barely kicked a competitive ball during the season though.

Done it multiple times, mostly with goalkeepers (I've gone through an alarming number of 36-year-olds and older goalkeepers to simply train one youngster).

Only on frees/less than 1mil. Signed Raul on a free at the age of about 36 to tutor youngsters.

On 07, I had a youngster come through my academy who was labelled as the next David Beckham, so I picked up the 37y.o. Becks on a free for one year to train him.

It's not quite a new signing, but I kept Makelele to the club, even if he plays for the reserve squad to tutor some young DMs , like Zuculini or Sankhare who had great potential.

After the season is over I will release him.
