What is the difference between the different coloured scouting stars?

Most are yellow (or gold)

Every so often there is a player with white (or silver!) stars next to them.

What's the difference?

Gold stars compare the scouted player to your first team. Silver stars compare him to your youth team.

It's in comarison to the best player/youth player you have in that particular position.

i thought the silver stars was your youth team so if he has say 7 silver stars he is excllent for your youth team, and then i think as his ca increases he goes to one gold star and then two and so on up to or near his pa.

No, it doesn't definitely compare the player to the best player who plays in his position. It compares the player to the general standard of the squad. If you've got a squad full of Michael Ball-level players and you suddenly acquire Lionel Messi, you will see the difference.

Yeah, it's what bison said, I think. I believe it compares to the very best player in the squad. So for youth players, it will be the player with the highest CA in the youth squad that he gets compared to.

Always presumed so, but tbh I never really paid much attention to the silver stars, insteading looking at the gold stars alonside the pa.

Scouts and coaches allocate stars base on team reputation. So a 7 star player at West Ham would be a 4 or 5 at Chelsea

I'm pretty sure it compares the player to what you've already got taking the season's objective into account.

Maybe I've got it all mixed up when it comes to player or squad because of how the scout report is filled out. You know 4 stars there isn't too much difference between ____ and _____.

Still though I'm pretty sure the season objective is taken into account. At least tell me I'm right about that, otherwise I've been basing my strategy on yet another fallacy.

Depends on the team. The American teams are better than some european teams but for example a two star player that just came through my reserves in my liverpool team would be perhaps a 4 star player in an american team, similarly a four star player in a small european team may become a 2 star player in an American team. Its compared to the standard of the team and i beleive the standard of the league, or at least the teams league ambitions.

yeah i think bardock is right in saying that so if you're aims are to avoid relegation a 7 star player for your team might be less for a team that is challenging for the title.
