FM07 [EUC Clan]: The Spanish Inquistion Returns [Established Clan]

Recommended Posts

October 23rd remember the date. For this is the date the SPANISH INQUISTION RETURNS.

After adventures elsewhere in recent games it was settled by the majority that we returned to somewhere that brought us great success and infamy

spanjock2.jpg

Let me introduce the stars:

Davie "Stabwest" Orr

Davie is a bit of a mainstay in the clan now having joined way back yonder. Hasn't really won anything major but has a habit of making poor teams into forces. What does 07 bring? depending on the start it may just be Davies game to finally land a big prize.

Emir "Azmodai" Karakurt

A Maths geek by day and a bit of a hardcore FM Junkie by night well when he feels like it. Az was the first foreigner to join what was the Spanjocks at the time and as such is inclusion to the clan was a welcome one if not a little strange having a Turk in our midst especially with the Scottish Banter going around. Az however is now an adopted Scot :*)

Stewart "Sav112" Robertson

Poor Sav, Forever sacked Sav. The poor guy had a rotten run of luck recently however I am sure it's down to being slighty bored of fm06 and not his tactical knowledge icon_wink.gif

Sav is our dedicated host after taking over from myself and doesn't let the clan down.

Stephen "Lambie’s Lovechild" McGuiness

The Bodmeister has been missing lately presumed buried under the missus patio by the clan. Although to our delight he resurfaced to bring us a little post in the thread. Bod is off the old-school management of hoovering something he has retained from his Scots Clan days. He is a fierce competitor and normally tactically astute when it comes to his teams. Reports of notebooks piled high with stats on players and tactical notes sitting beside his computer are rumoured but haven't been found yet.

Andrew Bannister

Such a quite wee guy you forgot he's there, in terms of management he is pretty solid but I don't think I've seen him speak more than 2 sentences in a row icon_wink.gif

Orhun "Nukem" Ozdemir

The 2nd Turk to join our happy little family and like Az has settled in well with the banter and is pretty much an Adopted Scot. FM wise Nuke is solid with no real weakness to exploit although to some he's a bit of a gypo with the clubs but not me.

Johnny Findlay

A newcomer to the clan and a relative newcomer to the online scene Findlay has shown some knowledge when it comes to FM but will he keep up with the big boys in 07, I wish him well icon_wink.gif

With 07 on the horizon we the clan hope to see the return of a few old faces such as Sy and Reidy and we may even have a wee spot left for Stevethedog awww :*)

Few things

The team draw is made this Sunday in the #Sunday.fmclan room on MIRC at 4pm

Please do not post in this thread asking to join the game, all places are taken at the moment and if we have a spot available we will advertise in the 'Clan Advertisments' thread.

Random Draw Results.

It was as hard as predicting a Ger’s result these days but seven Managers have found new homes. With the odd manager still to join they are already up against it

Comments, media predictions, financial wizardry and tactical cunning and I dare say the odd Sacking will follow. For some it’s the reality of building from scratch and surviving the relegation battle for others it’s keeping the cash and talent laden Club directors and fans happy and building that dream team to take them to the very top of Europe.

Sav- Recrativo

Nuke – Valencia (oh dear lord) icon_rolleyes.gif

Dave –Betis

Fin –Gimnastic

Gaz –Espanyol

Az – Barcelona (oh that’s nice for him) icon_eek.gif

Taav – Racing

As new Manager Mambo walked on to the pitch of the empty Nuevo Colombino stadium he could sense his excitement, this new stadium might only hold just under twenty thousand but it looked impressive and would provide the perfect backdrop to his introduction to Management.

He had joined the oldest football team in Spain lovingly referred as El Decano ("the senior member"), the Club had History and Tradition that he would have to live up to. Commonly known as Recre they had just been promoted to the top flight and it was the new Managers job to keep them there.

The Fans were concerned, the Board was concerned and even the Tea lady was worried at the appointment after all who was this guy now in charge and just off the plane from his spiritual home of Scotland.

The Board looked on as Coach after Coach was brought in to strengthen the Staff, basic foundations were being built as the team played in friendly’s. The Manager would have to take his time getting to know the players and this would be a real test when the games started proper.

The Media tried as best they could to get interviews and sound bites but this Manager was only going to comment after he had settled in and had something to say. He was quite happy to let the other new Manager at bigger clubs express themselves.

Having played three competitive games the manager felt it was time to talk.

“I’d just like to say a few words for the fans; I’m delighted to be here and pleased to be undefeated thus far. We have put in three very good performances and already there looks to be core of a team. I’ve been impressed with a few players and ever rewarded them with new contracts< namely Ikechukwu Uche, Santiago Cazorla, Laurenţiu Dumitru Roşu.

Sixth in the League and a very impressive 3-3 with Athletico Madrid. It might be only one win and two draws but it’s a starting point. With ten goals scored in three games we already have found decent form. With regards with transfers, it will be next season before we see new faces. Youth development could be key, time will be taken to access just what we have already at the club and the new team of coaches will help in developing the players both youth and first.

That’s all I’ve got to say I have the Villarreal game to prepare forâ€

Theres Only One Team In Madrid, and its not the Crapacticos

Atletico Madrid, as a club, have never been short on controversy. For the duration of Jesus Gil's tenure, the club flirted with the unusual, the odd, and the downright bizarre, on an almost daily basis. So it should have come to no surprise to the fans when they announced that the new manager had no La Liga experience, was only 31 years old, was a Partick Thistle fan, and had never played a single game of professional football in his life.

When asked why they had hired Stefano Bodragueno, the board simply replied "He was cheap".

So on a wave of derision and outright abuse, Bodragueno was introduced to the fans. First question was the obvious one.

"How do you think youll perform as Atletico manager"

"Thats an easy one" said Bodragueno, "Ill play a strong, attacking, flowing game with the help of key players, a good backroom staff, a well organised financial structure, and im totally confident that not only can we safely stay in La Liga, but I believe we can challenge for the European slots available this season".

"But Senor" replied the journo "You have no cash to spend, how do you intend to create this improvement".

"Well Sancho, itll be like this. Ill utilise the core of the current squad, players who have devoted themselves to Atletico as fans, rather than mercenaries. Ill be bringing looking to forge new links with our South American and Spanish feeder clubs, and Ill revitalise our scouting structure to bring in more youths locally and from overseas".

"Does this mean you will be signing Willie Howie from Whitburn?"

"No Sancho. We cannae afford his wages"

And so onto the season itself. After the usual pre-season Diddy Cups were out of the way (all won by Barca, as expected) the serious business of getting 3 points away to La Liga stalwarts Real Zaragoza came onto the horizon. As promised, Bodragueno stuck with the squad from last season, and in a new, flair filled, attack minded formation , shocked the nation by winning 5-0, a hat trick from Torres the highlight of the game, although the performance from Martin Petrov was what had the press attention. Following this, a very hard fought 3-3 away draw to Recreativo, who look like real contenders under perennial underachiving manager Savio Mambo, was quickly forgotten as Atletico trounced Mallorca 4-0 in their first home game.

The fans were mystified. Was this the same squad that last season had flirted with relegation? Was this the unproven manager with no top level experience? Were they really top of the league , unbeaten after 3 games and having scored 12 goals?

Across the city, worried glances were being aimed. The Galactico's had already dropped their first 3 points, and fans wondered for the first time in many years, which Madrid club was going to be "Top Dog" this season.

GazESP.jpg

An Unknown Scotsman of Spanish descent was unveiled as coach of King's Cup winners Espanyol on Wednesday.

Gaz Tonerinho, who has signed a one-year contract, takes over from Miguel Angel Lotina who left Espanyol at the end of the season after leading the club to victory in the King's Cup and survival in the Primera Liga.

Tonerinho, who has no real experience in the game is a shock choice to become Espanyol manager.

"I'm really looking forward to the challenge," the 24-year-old told a news conference. "I'm joining a club with some great players such as Raul Tamudo and Luis Garcia"

The club preserved their top flight status in dramatic fashion after an injury-time goal gave them victory over Real Sociedad in the final match of the season.

"I think the people at the club are still recovering from the shock of what happened at the end of the season," said Tonerinho.

"Our priority will be to ensure we stay in the first division. Relegation would be a catastrophe and it has to be avoided."

Saw an article on Howie playing in the juniors, and as Whitburn is the club synonymous with Lambie & Collins, figured that was as good a choice as any of the Junior clubs.

Apologies to all who were taken in by my horrible, unforgivable deception with regards to the current whereabouts of Thistle legend Willie Howie.

After some brief research (the kind most of my posts dont tend to have) ive ascertained hes currently entertaining the fans of Glenafton Athletic (top quality match reports and pics to be found Here with photos by John Vass (Rosco , any relation to yer man Wullie Vass, original Scots Clan founding member and whipping boy?).

Howie in action firing home another pearler for Glenafton during their 4-1 whipping of Whitletts Victoria.
