Still way too difficult/impossible to become favoured personnel/icon/legend

I was earlier informed that this issue hasn't been fixed or even tweaked for the new patch and I am incredibly annoyed about it, and I'm not getting any reasonable explanation for why this has not been fixed. It's not like the issue has never been brought up before, since the game came out here's an example of just some of the threads on this-

Every single one of these lengthy threads shows the same problems. It is seemingly impossible to become an icon/legend for one of the major clubs and very difficult albeit possible with smaller clubs.

For instance, I have won every available competition with Newcastle, and most with arsenal in separate saves, eclipsing the achievments of in game 'legends' such as Keegan and Wenger yet I am not even classed as favoured personnel. I have managed it once with lowly Fisher athletic so I guess it must have something to do with reputation but it would seem that it's impossible to become an icon or legend or perhaps even favoured personnel for a major club, even though in game players and coaches can get there for doing very little.

I find it incredible that on the third and final patch of such a popular game that this hasn't been even looked at despite that countless threads on the subject. Some may say that it is not the most important aspect of the game and it isn't but first of all it surely can't be that hard to fix but second of all it can ruin the enjoyment of long term games.

There is simply no sense of achievement in the long term if you are still classed as a nobody no matter how many titles/cups etc you win with a club, it all ends up feelings pointless if you see a striker who scored 9 goals in one season becoming favoured personnel and other players at the club becoming icons while I've been there for 20 years winning everything. I don't feel right using the in game editor simply because I don't feel it right to be editing the game that I bought and should have been fixed by now.

I'm assuming that there will not be any sort of fix for this issue and I will have to wait at least until fm 2010 for this to be sorted, so I'm not sure whether I will continue playing the current game (may revert back to cm03/04 which I frequently do these days!). The worrying thing is that despite all the threads outlining the problem before, that the issue was never looked at and I worry about the presence of SI on the forums and how much attention they are actually paying to the threads considering such an oft mentioned problem was never addressed.

I promise to stop ranting about this now and return to the weird and wonderful world of Daniel Braaten and Anatoli Todorov...

I think this is one of those 'bugs/features' that has been given a low priority. It doesn't really affect gameplay and there are far more important bugs to be fixed. I also think you underestimate how easy something like this may be to fix, every fix has knock-ons so it's not just as simple as changing and moving on.

I might be underestimating it yes, it might be quite difficult to fix and although I have done some basic coding for games (late 90s), they were far more simplistic than FM. The thing is, it wasn't a problem before on the older games, I can't remember when the problem creeped in exactly (don't know if it was on fm08 as I didn't have enough long term successful saves to realistically merit icon/legend status) but this feature used to work fine, I remember certainly being at least favoured personnel for Newcastle before having won less than I have with them on fm09 (plus I think anyone who wins anything with Newcastle now would become a legend pretty quickly IRL).

To be honest though I don't see it as a minor issue, it effects the gameplay for me as I no longer feel like bothering with the current game as no matter how well I might do I will never get any in game recognition. There seems to be very little in game reward for doing well and god knows that isn't easy to do unless you're managing Man U or something.

I believe FM 09 was the first to introduce legend and icon but the favoured personell feature has never worked properly for me - at least not in FM07, 08 or 09. I have been on that list but it just seems totally random as to how you get on there.
