signing on fees

Firstly how many people actually use these when offering a contract because I have never had a contract turned down because I offered no signing on fee I was just wondering if there is any proof that it makes a difference say if two clubs were bidding for the same player and one offered a signing on fee and the other didnt?

I never offer them either unless I really want someone but as you say theres no proof that it makes any difference.

i only offer a signing on fee when offering less than what the player demands, whether it makes any actual difference, i dont know!

I never offer signing on fees unless its required, you know, where it says x player wants this that and that. Ive not seen it included as a clause so therefore never offer one, its worked every time.

It certainly used to make a difference, but it doesn't appear to any more. In FM05 or something I once messed around and had the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Michael Owen playing for some conference team, all of them on £5 a week, because I'd frozen my money and offered them each a £2b signing on fee.
