Steven Torres
its just an option that comes up when you get the injury message, its not available for all injuries but it is almost always quicker to send them to one.
arsenal_2111
It normally cuts the time they are out by a lot, but for serious injuries can have a impact on club finances.

Stevicus
I have only really had this at big clubs, sending them to specialists may mean they visit medical personall abroad, e.g, michael owen went to germany to have an operation when he had that major injury a couple years back. You usuallly get the speccialist option if your players break an arm or leg it reduces the injury time considerably, though you still wont have that player on the training pitch for a couple of months:( This usually happens to all my star players

Niall Clarke
I think the option screen should highlight the price that it's going to cost, otherwise you're just shooting in the dark.

muncherdave
An estimate of cost would be nice (correlated with the estimate of how long they are likely to be injured for), as well as the tier thing, the choice would be nice. Last straw being fly them out to a specialist abroad if that injury just keeps recurring.
Dirty_ACE
I think there's a category for this in Expenses, it's like miscellaneous costs or something. Usually going to the specialist will speed up the recovery, sometimes considerably, and typically any club in the top leagues will send their player to the best money can buy. For example in real life Alessandro Nesta is currently in Miami receiving treatment from a specialist there.
