Just another quick update on my Lille game. My record now reads won 11, drawn 2 and lost 2. Had a really frustrating home draw (0-0) to Auxerre in a game where if it had been a boxing match the referee would have stopped it, it was that one sided. I had about 25 attempts to their 2 but couldnt get that all important goal. Next game was a 2-0 away defeat to Toulouse, which again we played well, but couldnt hit the target. That left me trailing Lyon by 4 points, but 5 points clear of third place. Next up was Lyon at home which being 4 points adrift was a must win game at all costs. Final score Lille 3-0 Lyon. Now only a point behind as we approach the midway point. Also through to the next round of the league cup.

I started a career with Lille about 3 weeks ago. In my first season i signed Jo (CSKA Moscow) for 8m, Matoukou, Jeremy Mathieu, Kalouda, Piatti, and a centre back from St Liege called Sarr. Cant remember the exact details as im at work at the mo. I won the league by about 15 points ahead of PSG. I also won the league cup but lost in the final of the other cup to Lyon. During my first season i became £10m in debt and the chairman sold the club. In my second season i had to let Jo, Piatti, Mathieu, Mirallas and Sylva go because other clubs were offering for them and either the chairman accepted the bids or the player became unhappy with me for not letting them talk to the other clubs. I replaced Jo with Mauro Zarate, Mirallas with Nilmar, Piatti with Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, Mathieu with Loris Reina and Sylva with Jody Viviani. Im now in December of the second season and i am 2nd, 9 points behind Lyon who have spent £47m on new players!! I came 2nd in my champions league group and have Chelsea in the next round.

It is an enjoyable career to do although if you spend your transfer budget then the club will be in debt and this will make the chairman accept bids for your key players. Try not to sign too many Africans in your first season as they all disappear after Christmas for the African Cup of Nations which was a nightmare for me. I feel that i am a victim of my own success as the majority of my squad were wanted by other teams and it has been a nightmare trying to keep everyone happy even though we are 2nd and playing in the champions league. I have signed a few other players but cant remember at the moment so i will come back when i am at home and will let you know.

Has anyone managed to get rid of Luis Yanes? He is not good enough for my squad and also he takes up one of the 4 non EU squad places if you register him. I have tried selling but not many teams are interested and when i do get an offer he rejects the contract. To release him on a free would cost £2m and he wont go for a mutual termination. He is currently rotting in my youth team even though he is too old to play for them.

I cant get rid of him either. I think to be honest, if you want to get rid of him, it might be best to ask for a really low fee for him or actually make him available for free.

Offer him for 0.

If that doesn't work let him play 1 game he should be bad and than say you were very disappointed and than offer him again for 0. He should accept the contract offered by another club.

Yeah i have offered him to other clubs for free but he still doesnt attract much attention. Tried playing him in the cup last season to see if that would help but it didnt. I dont want to register him / give him a squad number this season as i already have 3 non eu players in the squad so dont want to waste the final place on him when im coming up to the January transfer window. Looks like i will have to keep trying to give him away and hope someone comes in for him.

Try offering him out on loan, make sure it's 1st team football he gets if not then not so important, but put a Future fee of £0 in if your desperate to get rid. May work

Ok, I finished my first season as Lille. Sold off a lot of players I felt were no use to further increase my transfer budget, and bought Lloris, Van Der Vaart, Elmander, Augusto and Kleber. We won the league with only three defeats all season (two after we secured the league), and we also won the French Cup, but lost the Coupe De Ligue to Lyon.

The only problem now is that many of my top players are wanted by big clubs, and want to leave. I've had to sell Van Der Vaart to Liverpool (got £21 million for him) and Augusto had a £13.75 million offer accepted for him by the board.

This would usually be OK, as i could buy a strong replacement, but the real problem is despite winning the league we still can't attract top players, and the top players we could sign are all being signed up by other clubs. It's extremely frustrating.

Still, so far I've got Cavilleri and Valencia signed up, and missed out on Alfonso Alves to West Ham (and L Diarra to Man City).

Thats sounds very much like my current game. Do well in your first season and watch your team get torn apart the following season as other teams become interested and you are powerless to stop them leaving or becoming upset.

The second season is definately harder if you win the league in your first season.

Sorry for not Updating, Haven't Been Around Much for a while (doing Exams). Should Finish 1st Transfer Window within the hour,once ive got the screenshots uploaded i'll post an update.

Another quick update

Only ten league games to go now in my first season. 3 points behind Lyon but got a far superior goal difference to them. Still got them to play but it's away from home. Through to the french league cup final beating Nancy away in the semi's 5-3. Got Lorient in the final. Also through to the quarter final of the french fa cup. I have also had a takeover and have a new chairman. The debt has been cleared but no money made available yet.

For anyone wishing to start a new career with Lille, i suggest you load the Belgian leagues as Lille have a feeder club in that country and you can also pick up a few decent players also. Eric Matoukou from Genk is one of my best signings. He got 10 goals in his first season from centre back, although i used the ''challenge keeper'' cheat / tactic.

End of season 1

Finished my first season last night and ended up falling way short of Lyon in the end. Lyon were champs, and i finished 2nd on 77 points, 16 points behind but 7 points clear of 3rd place Rennes. Made the semi finals of the French fa cup losing to Toulouse on pens but i did win the league cup beating Lorient 3-1. All in all a sucessful season.

I picked up the manager of the year award while i had players on the shortlist for the various

player of the year awards.

Good to see a Lille thread! I'm just beginning my 5th season at Lille and this game is the most fun I've had in a while. A quick summary of my past seasons:

07/08

To the surprise of everyone (including myself) Lille won the Ligue 1 Orange title on the last day of the season. I finished tied on 67 points with Sochaux and Stade Rennais, but a +25 goal difference gave Lille the title. Lyon finished 5th. I went out of the French Cup in the semis to Lyon and the Coupe de la Ligue in the 4th round to Stade Rennais. Eddie Johnson finished as my top scorer, but bringing Samaras in on loan was key. He scored 15 goals in 15 appearances after I brought him in the last day of the January window

The way this season began I thought it would be the worst one I've ever had. The chairman accepted bids for 4 of my first team players, including Eddie Johnson and Issiar Dia (the bids for both of them came from Lyon) who were my 2 leading goal scorers. Luckily, Dia rejected their contract offer, but Eddie left. I took the money I got from that transfer and bought a young Brazilian striker named Alan Kardec. Final tally for the season: Eddie had 7 goals in 27 appearances for Lyon, Alan Kardec had 39 goals in 39 appearances for Lille. In your face Lyon!!!

Behind the potent 1-2 punch of Kardec and Vantaggiato, we won Ligue 1 by 16 points over PSG. Lyon finished a distant 7th, 30 points behind. Lyon did manage to knock us out of the French Cup in the 11th round though, and we went out of the Coupe de la Ligue in the semis to PSG. The Champions League continued to be a thorn in my side as well, going out to Chelsea again in the 1st knockout round.

I'm currently 8 games into this season and am currently in second, 2 points behind Lyon. Alot of player movement this offseason, mostly out unfortunatly. I decided to promote some younger players I've been developing to replace most of them, but I have brought in Henri Saivet and Freddy Adu to help lessen the blow. Once the new stadium opens in 2010 your finances jump, as you'd expect. It's now at a point where the chairman doesn't jump in and approve transfers as much as he used to. The first few seasons it was any bid over $20m would get approved by the chairman. This season it looks like over $30m is the cutoff, as I had approval over Dervite and Carvalho's transfers, but not Obertan or Kardec's.

I'm also accepted the Nigeria job in '09. I have been offered jobs with Portsmouth and Inter Milan as well, but have turned them down. I'm having too much fun at Lille to leave just yet
