Great news, now get to work!:D

I'll start working on some redirects. Jod, do you plan on putting some more content into the FM07 page? It looks kind of bare as it is...

pnefc22

Can someone make a redirect to the Major League Soccer page when you type in "MLS"? (if possible, I'm too lazy to type the whole name every time. On wiki, i just type "mls")

Oh, and rob, I'm already starting to think about making some individual wiki player pages, from the uncreated red link pages of de Guzman and DeRosario on the Canadian page. :)

Yeah same, I have got a whole list of players to make profiles for.

I guess that you are going to do all of Toronto's team and Canada's team :D

FM07?

There is nothing on it all. Somebody created a link to it and I just categorised it.

I apologise over the Dynamo (Kiev), (Kyiv), (Kyev) thing. I did not understand but now I understand over the redirects.

Could I have a redirect done for the Preston page, so that when you type in 'pne'.

I will do it myself if you tell me how to. Thanks

I'll tell you if you want so you know in the future anyway.

Just create a page with the title of the redirect, so in this case it is PNE.

Then on the page just put the following #REDIRECT pagename

pagename is obviously the name of the article you want to redirect to so in this case it is the Preston page.

Ok, thanks a lot.

I have edited the CM01/02 page, adding some info there but I have not finished.

I see you created a category. You don't need to enter a link to the article on it. If you just insert at the end of each Player Profile article it will automatically be added to the page.

If you are offering then, you can do the introduction while I work on a player list etc.

I thought that it would be only suitable if the first player profile would be of him:

I see that you have done it. It looks good. I may add some more information to it as we go along.

How come I can't add in the contents or the opening at all?

Is it because i am not an admin?

Do you think that we will ever have more people with sysops(admin) priviledges?

Plus, weren't there 4 people with admin priviledges before JJay helped us?

Lot of questions I know :D

You get a contents bit if you have more than 3 proper headings in a page. Your problem is that you're just putting text in bold instead of a heading. That's why contents never come up for you.

I agree, ahmufcwafc is the best

Anyway, here's how you add a screenshot:

Click 'upload file' on the left hand corner of the page.
Upload it from wherever you have it saved.
Go into the page that you want to put the image into, & at the top write

Yeah - the temporary link that you were given no longer points straight at the wiki settings which is why the layout will disappear on there. Your coding on your page shouldn't be a problem if you load it up using the below link.

I would add something about his career tbh, like history.

Also, I would put something about him in Football Manager. Like stats, coach reports...

It's a FM site, so it should have FM related info on every page imo.

The United States National Team is controlled by the United States Soccer Federation. Football has won popularity at the Unites States since 1970s and the national team has become one of the most important forces in CONCACAF and has appeared in the last five FIFA World Cups.

Want me to put it back?

Yes please, he/she has changed:

In my opinion the squad could do with 5 or 6 more quality players to be considered as a top 6 contending team. The positions that need strengthening are left back, centre back, centre midfield, both wings and up front.

I feel a left back is needed as although Enrique is strong and solid, he just isnít up to scratch technique-wise, therefore the new player should be good enough to be first choice.
Possible Targets: Manuel Pasqual (Fiorentina), Taye Taiwo (Marseille), Razvan Rat (Shakhtar)

The new centre back would provide cover and rotation for the current partnership of Coloccini and Taylor, which I believe will be a pretty good duo at the back.
Possible Targets: Christopher Samba (Blackburn), Guy Demel (HSV), Mirel Radoi (Steaua)

Centre midfield needs a creative spark, as all but one (Ignacio Gonzalez) of the current crop are more defensive minded. Therefore a creative attacking player is required here to partner one of the defensive players.
Possible Targets: Alex (Internacional), Juan Roman Riquelme (Boca), Diego Buonanotte (River), Douglas Costa (Gremio)

Cover is needed for both wings as there is no natural right winger other than Jonas, and I feel Duff isnít good enough to cover for NíZogbia. I would suggest bringing in a more experienced player on the left, and a younger player for the right.
Possible Targets: Alessandro Rosina (Torino), Cani (Villarreal), Juan Arango (Mallorca), Francois Clerc (Lyon), Marko Babic (Betis)

Finally I feel we need another good striker to rotate with Owen and Martins, as Viduka, in my opinion, is past it and should only be used sparingly and I donít feel Xisco will ever become anything special. The new man should be tall, strong and good in the air, ala Adebayor at Arsenal.
Possible Targets: Stephen Ayodele Makinwa (Lazio), Kevin Doyle (Reading), Soren Larsen (Toulouse), Maroune Chamakh (Bordeaux), Marco Borriello (A.C Milan)

On the selling front, I would look to sell Cacapa, Alan Smith, Mark Viduka, and depending on your singings, also sell Damien Duff.

to

* Cacapa: Not premiership standard
* Alan Smith: Not premiership standard, Injury prone, high wages for a roation player (42k a week)
* Mark Viduka: Old, Injury Prone, High wages (60k a week)
* Damien Duff: High wages for a backup left winger (65k a week)
* Michael Owen: Injury Prone, High Wages (125k a week)
* Shola Ameobi: Not premiership standard
* Nicky Butt: Ageing, Can provide cover for 2 seasons or so.
* Geremi: Ageing, although can provide cover for another season or so.

I'd appriciate it if you could change it back. Thanks:)

I removed the disclaimer because i don't think it belongs on a public wikipedia page where since anyone can edit it's not fair to credit just one person on it, the official wikipedia also follows this guideline.

My edits to the article were merely building upon Seans work already posted on the wiki, boldening some things to make it easier on the eyes and adding additional information and advice to readers.

I thought the article i left was a pretty neat and tidy one, i don't see why you need to add in that load of player targets as some of them were based on FM08 such as Sean saying to sell Enrique who is decent enough on FM09 and some of the advice given is flawed such as reccomending 10M+ players to buy on a 6M budget. A few more deficiences i thought are found in the reccomended formation and line up, tactical advice was given which i thought was not too helpful and of no use whatsoever (basically saying use 4-4-2 with quick direct passing) so removed.
Overall i thought the article was alot easier to read, gave good sound advice and let the reader decide on what tactics to use.

(The unregistered IP address was mine, i forgot to log in before editing again!)
Oh, and uhhh why would i deserve a warning? I won't edit anything anymore if thats what you want ;S

Regarding the disclaimers, a lot of the information left in was NUFCSean's. As he wrote the base to it I feel he deserves to get the credit for it. That was one of the conditions that writers agreed to when they let me use their threads, and I am going to stick to that. If I got rid of the disclaimers I would have to tell the writers, and some might not want their work there without getting credit for it. I'll edit the disclaimer now to credit you as well.

Although you might not have found the information helpful, some would. No, the tactical advice wasn't exactly developed much, but there was no need to delete it altogether. For someone who has never played as Newcastle it may have been some use, to build on. I really don't see why you would delete work because you didn't find it helpful. I don't find the youth intake page useful, because I know it. That doesn't mean I delete it, because I realise that other people might find it useful. You say you wanted to let the reader to decide what tactics to use. Surely a guide is something that you get advice from, so they can read that and make their own decisions after reading it.

On Football Manager people can sell players as well as buy. Sean recommends selling 'Cacapa, Alan Smith, Mark Viduka, and depending on your singings, also sell Damien Duff', which could raise £10mil potentially. There is no problem in recommending players above budget, because players can always be sold to fund it. If you feel other signings are more realistic then feel free to edit it and give some more options, but some people won't need more realistic options.

As for the Enrique part, that is Sean's opinion. Everyone has one, not everyone agree's with one. Not agreeing with one part doesn't mean you should delete the whole part of his post.

Jod has covered the warning part, so I won't repeat him.

Reading the above through, some parts could come across as slightly agressive. This was not the way it was supposed to be, so sorry if you take offense to it.

Thanks for the reply, i didn't "delete" seans work pre-se i merely reworded it so it was easier to read, changing his possible players to sell into a bullleted list i thought helped alot, By the way do you know what happened to Sean? His account isn't registered on Si forums anymore. The Enrique part he stated was based on his accounts from FM08 and may not apply to FM09. actical Advice i feel shouldn't be given unless its for a very good reason, i don't see why Sean reccomended fast pasted direct attacking as that would be reliant on the players you may buy or sell, FM tactics are very complicated and if the user takes in the advice from the wiki and it doesn't work it could leave him feeling very frustrated .

Yeah, sean10 is NUFCSean who's computer wouldnt let him log on so he got that account and then had it deleted when he got his problem fixed.

Where did he say that that is based on FM08? I can't see it.

I was reading the discussion between Orion Dean and Arsenal. This is an example of what could happen though. One person makes edits in good faith trying to improve the article so there is certainly nothing wrong with that. Another person could have a different opinion on a player for example which again is fair. If the two people are stubborn enough it could lead to edit wars and stuff. You can't really dismiss either person as they are both entitled to have their opinions and they both are trying to improve the article so what should we do in this case if that ever happened?

I have no idea tbh, maybe put two bullet points with differing views? Like on some TV shows/magazines etc, they do 'He said, I say' or something like that.

Alright, fair enough. I guess the main thing then is to make sure that everything is categorised properly - basically what I mean is that if we have an article on Ji-Park Sung which suggests that he isn't good enough for the squad and should be sold, then it should be specifically under Football Manager 2009 headings, else the article would need to be updated every single year. Having said that, it might just be easier to leave that kind of information out and keep it factual.

Something else: I've added a Template:Main and used it in the Football Manager 2009 article (under the fake players controversy heading) to link to the Fake Players article, but I wanted to make the template allow for piped links, ie use the link Fake Players#Football_Manager_2009, but show the link as just Fake Players. However, I can't figure it out, so I've left it as is. If anyone understands wiki syntax better than me and can fix it, please do :)

There are alot of pages which have nothing on, when you look at them and I guess we can just add something to them and I will think up more articles and just leave them as names and people will have something to do.

This was on the third page! I was shocked :D

It looks better on the first page and attracts more people. Plus, we are nowhere near to finishing though, as a wiki is never finished :D

All you do is upload the picture by using the upload file link on the left.

When you have it uploaded just put the name of the picutre you uploaded it as in the article like this name of image.

You can also change the size, alignment and other things like that by putting those in like this size|alignment

An example from the wiki is

On the left there is a link to help and if you go there you will find a guide on editing on the wiki which includes all this. It is very helpful and easy enough to understand.

Hope that helps.

Just align them by putting in the alignment you want as I said above. You can also change the vertical alignment the same way.

I know you can align them to a particular side. The main thing bothering me is that there's no way to resize the image you uploaded to have it the exact size you wanted.

No you just put in something like this 200px

200px is the size

100px will obviously give you half the size and that 200px will give you and so on.

It is just an ip so that is not a good idea as you should not ban them for that length of time. I'll block him/her for now if they do it again though.

Don't ban him for a week as that ip could be shared by anyone else.

I see it but is that a good idea? People might be wary of editing the page at all now so if they have a legitimate request they may be cautious and not asking incase they fell they are misinterpreted. I think we should just warn the people doing it. There must have been 20 different ips that I warned and they will each get a message. Personally I think that is enough. We have a feature to protect the page if we need to as well to stop unregistered users from editing or stop everyone from editing except admins.

ahmufcwafc
15-03-2009, 19:19
Fair enough. The page has been spammed again, so I've blocked it for unregistered users. I think it's best for now.

I meant I looked up the ips and they are from 2 different countries. I know you can easily change them though but it is still not guaranteed. Just because he posted the same links means nothing though as all he had to do was copy and paste from a previous version which anyone can and would do.
