Death.
I was just wondering what are the "ideal" pitch sizes in relation to different playing styles? Say: 1 - Defensive/"Long-Ball" Football 2 - Counter-Attack Football 3 - Patient/Slow/Possession Football 4 - Attacking/Fast/Direct Football 1 - Maybe short so the players can get in support of the target man? Narrow so it's easier to defend against good attacking teams? 2 - Long so there's space in behind to exploit on the counter when using fast players? 3 - Short so it's easier to win the ball back when possession is lost and players are always in close proximity? 4 - Wide to stretch teams and make attacking more effective? Advice welcome.
JimbobWWFC
I see your point, but each choice has it's own drawbacks, e.g. 1 - If the ball passes the target man, it is more likely to run straight through the the opposition GK 2 - Longer pitch will take longer to get from your own goal to theirs, and may tire your players out playing a counter-attacking style 3 - A smaller pitch will make it more difficult to find space for the short passes 4 makes the most sense from what you listed above. But for direct play, use a longer length pitch. If you are playing on a narrow pitch, I play a wide formation in order to try and find more space to attack (particularly when playing away from home)
