chopper99
I use a desktop at the moment. I'd like to get a laptop to play the game on, mainly so I can sit on the couch and play it while the missus watches the telly. But I dread to think how much I would have to spend on a laptop for it to run the resource hungry FM09 at a decent speed.
elgreenio
gotta be laptop, just for ease of moving about and relaxing in bed on a saturday afternoon in the company of FM09 and Jeff Stelling and the boys

Bought one from Currys for £400, is running FM pretty well. The only thing that I don't seem to get on with is the touchpad, much prefer a proper mouse. chopper99
£400 is not too bad. I hate the touchpads as well, if I do use a laptop I need to have a sturdy book next to me so that I can use a proper mouse with it.
lee50_11
Desktop for me would love a laptop but couldn't afford both and you can get a much better Desktop for the price of a decent laptop

Nomis07
Both, but very rarely use the laptop as it isn't really mine.
elgreenio
Nice to know I'm not alone I have one, but it doesn't work on my duvet would try to steer clear of restign the laptop on your duvet for long periods of time, doesnt help the ventilation and can overheat ----> screwed hard drive
Glenn Wakeford
Nice to know I'm not alone I have one, but it doesn't work on my duvet Most optical mice should work on surfaces like that. I know my one does (although it's not wireless).
babyburns
Laptop, but after first finding the touch pad difficult to use, hours and hours of fm and im a whizz on it now
CaptainPlanet
It'll work on it if it's flat, but the duvet is rarely flat! I'd quite like little clip on mouse mat/board that clips on to the edge of the laptop, that would work well.
duckers4
i am using a laptop having previously only ever used a desktop. the laptop is brilliant. it sounds simple but having the ability to play FM anywhere (at work on dinner break, on the train, sat in bed) is great and i dont think i could ever go back to a desktop. CaptainPlanet
The missus'll be wondering what I'm doing if my hand is under the duvet and my shoulder is moving... Neil Peters
I sometimes play on both but its mainly the laptop I use as its better to run FM on than my PC, plus like others have said, much better cause you can move about if need be
Guest
Voted Desktop. Couldn't imagine playing it on a laptop. Even without playing FM on them, laptops are really annoying if you haven't got a mouse for it. Couldn't hack all the clicking and micromangement needed in FM on a laptop. Stevicus
Laptop! Firsy time I have played FM on a laptop, used to play them on the desktop but got rid of it due to age and the decision to go "modern". Loving the freedom of playing FM wherever i want! Simples! Stevicus
CP, may i ask why there is a "Neither" option? If you dont play it on desktop or Laptop, what can you play it on (excluding the games consoles)? Surely everyone in GD plays the game on either a laptop or desktop

Stevicus
Unless everyone has FM09 I would estimate that around maybe 95% of members in GD own FM 09, and out of those a lower percentage play it:p

I know plenty of people that have dropped FM09 for 08 and even more who are still playing 07.

Stevicus
Yes, definitely. I know plenty of people that have dropped FM09 for 08 and even more who are still playing 07. I know i would still be playing FM 07 right now! If only i didnt scratch my disk:( I would maybe be playing 08 again, if it didnt get jammed in the dvd drive of my old PC. The only reason im still playing 09 is that its the only FM game i still possess:p Though i havnt played it in a week! Damn these forums:D

Micado
Laptop. It is from my work work but am allowed to install FM09 on it, officially it is against the works policy to install applications which you don't need for your daily job, but since I travel a lot they approved as I told that playing FM09 is what I do when being alone in Hotels across Europe (of course sitting in the bar watching TV and drinking a beer while playing). And now also playing on it while at home. Dumped the old desktop, bought the wife her own laptop so she can go on MSN, the net without me having to leave my laptop. jdckelly
laptop, nowt better than lying in bed playing fm09 on it (and i use a sturdy book for my mouse so no touchpad for me)
ftg87
Laptop, bought it specifically because my old desktop wasn't good enough to play FM09, although it has proven itself to be an absolute godsend, makes my life so much less stressful than the heap of junk I used before
Hazzydeepy
Laptop - but for some reason I think that for me anyway, a desktop is easier. I dont know why but it seems more comfortable and easier to do the sliders.
Trux
Used to use a desktop but bought a £300 laptop before xmas when desktop stopped living. Game runs ok 3D, little jittery but playable. Gotta say though the space saved and the ability to go mobile means that despite the lacking performance I will never buy a desktop again.

CaptainPlanet
I'm genuinely suprised how many people on Laptops. I had a quick go on mine last night and the experience is so much poorer than on a decent desktop PC.
