a querry about players CA & PA

Recommended Posts

if a young player has a CA of 115 & a PA of 170 then thats what he will peak at. but what about old players? for instance, robbie fowler has a CA of 115 & a PA of 170. im taking it that he will never achieve a PA of 170 because he already has. what stat on the editor decides this apart from a players age?

Mainly age. Just because a player has a PA of 170 does not mean they will reach it. It depends on the amount of match time they get, injuries, training and things like that.

I guess this ties in with physical attributes as well. The better a players physical attributes the slower he will decline and the longer he will stay closer to his PA. Natural fitness would be the major factor here.

Celtic 1967, poster of the quarter? what?

anyway, I'm not so sure what impact physical attributes have on CA/PA.

You could be great on the ball, but have no stamina or speed.

See Tonka in Mike Bassett England Manager :D

My location is a joke.

Stats are more important. If you have a player with rubbish stats all over then they will have a low CA as they are linked. However if you have striker for example with a very high CA and low finishing and another striker with lower CA and very good finishing the 2nd one is better. Stats are more important.

What is CA?

What is PA?

Current Ability - gives a rough idea of how good a player currently is.

Potential ability - how good a player could possibly be. Most of the time, players don't manage to reach their maximum PA.

CA & PA are measured on a scale of 0-200. You need a 3rd party program such as Genie Scout to view CA & PA.

The most important thing to remember is that the match engine ONLY uses attributes (including a couple of the hidden ones), and not CA or PA. So if you feel like a player's got the sort of attributes that will make him suited to the role he's playing in your tactics, don't worry too much what your coaches or scouts say.

Unfortunately, the AI (other managers and your own team's assistant/coaches/scouts) still rely heavily on CA and PA to judge players - probably because it's much easier to programme it that way than having them consider all the players' individual attributes and how they'd fit in to their/your tactics.
