jod123
Where have you put the database?
alexw
Have you deleted the database by any chance?
.tC
Jod: My documents/Sport Interactive/Football Manager 2009/db alex: No.
jod123
If you go into preferences in the game could you tell me your user data folder?
alexw
ok, within that, have you deleted any files? (I'm not sure if that would have an effect, though)
.tC
Jod: Sure, (is in spanish) C:/Documents and Settings/Nico/Mis documentos/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2009/ Alex: Have all files; Checked in 3 opportunities
jod123
Have you tried opening the database in the editor and then saving it? That may get it working.
alexw
.tC, I'm not fully sure what the problem is. Could you possibly do a couple of screenshots so that we can see the error? Try photobucket for uploading the files if you don't know how
jod123
Alexw, it seems to be a common problem for people after moving a saved game from on computer to another and then having started it with an edited database. Hopefully resaving the database will fix it.
alexw
ah, I thought he'd edited the database ON the new computer. Problem probably solved then
jod123
Well I assume that is the problem mainly because it is common.
.tC
I try but nothing
jod123
Many people seem to be having a similar problem and I don't know how to fix it. Hopefully somebody who managed to get this fixed comes in here.
alexw
.tC You've now installed the game on the new computer. Just go to the default database and re-do the changes? That would work, I'd expect
jod123
I doubt it as it could still not find the database used to create the game though could it? It is worth a go though.
alexw
Mmmmm, in the past, Ive had a message saying "db could not be found, default database will be used" or something to that degree
jod123
Yeah so did I but that was for FM08 and the ones before. For FM09 it does not seem the game allows you to play at all if you get that message.
alexw
Ah, yeah, ditto that, was on FM08. Never had problems with
.tC
.tCYou've now installed the game on the new computer. Just go to the default database and re-do the changes? That would work, I'd expect Its very much work.
alexw
would take about 30 mins maybe? but its irrelevant as you wish to continue your current game my above method would mean starting a new game in all likelihood
.tC
No, 30 minutes, no. The default is 9.0.0 and the work is transform to 9.0.2 + more.
jod123
I don't think he meant literally the default database rather he meant the official one which is 9.2.0. Still though, it would not solve it I don't think.
alexw
The work to transform to 9.2? Download the patch and you get the database changes. I don't understand what you meant .tC
jod123
Alexw, I think as you said further up to edit the default database, .tC understood it as editing the default 9.0.0 database to update it with everything including what is in the 9.2.0 database.
alexw
AH! makes sense. .tC, I mean find the default 9.2 database and put your changes in. But as I've said since then, if you wish to carry on the existing Sampdoria file, then I'm not sure if this is possible
.tC
But ¿The default db is the 9.0.0? In the error say than play with the default db Default db =9.0.0 I have the 9.0.2 patch but this is not the default db
alexw
Perhaps a wrong choice of words by myself, but I'm referring to the default database of 9.2 because it is the database that is included without any changes to it (e.g. manual changes)
.tC
Thanks for all the help, you are very goods person. I start a new game now, ¿Any Team recommend?

jod123
I think there are bugs in Spain that are supposed to be fixed for the next patch so I would not manage there. You could try managing my favourite team Man United. If you want loads of money try Man City. You could also try the team I am currently managing - Lazio. There are a few for you. If you want more help choosing have a look at the "What Team Should I Be" thread in the Good Player and Team Guide.
