Well, here we are again. The CSE forum awards are back, and going to be bigger and better than ever http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

The actual awards 'ceremony' will be sometime in late summer. August most probably.

You all know the drill. If not, then check this (http://community.sigames.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5402079792/m/4152010943) thread for a basic idea of how the thing runs, etc.

Right, I need some of you guys to help me with this. I aim to get together a group of you to assist with the ideas stage, the nominating stage, and finally, the counting stage.

The Ideas Stage will involve choosing what awards to include, and getting any other ideas you have laid down on the table.

The Nominating Stage is pretty self-explanatory. Basically you get to choose who is up for each award.

Lastly, the Counting Stage. This is the one that needs to be done right. It is the most important part of the awards. The more help with this stage the better, it was frantic last year with just myself and Alex counting the votes!
[/list]

So get your names down in here if you're interested in helping with the stages above. Email me if you have any queries.

Also, I'll need to have you all on MSN, so add me at mike.bird12@hotmail.co.uk.

Thanks, mates.

Birdy.

Frazza Pee, I think it's better to keep the preliminary ideas with more regular users, and I don't want too many people to be involved at this stage. So apologies, but I'm going to keep it with a few more regular users.

It's actually the 'Awards' for this year, for the 'CSE' thread. (Challenges/Sign Ups/Experiements etc)

As the opening post says, we will be going over ideas, nominating and then the counting (after people have voted)

Personally this will be the first time i'm involved in one, so don't have a lot of knowledge about it, but I presume categories will be like 'Best Sign Up 'Best Idea' 'Best Challenge' etc

I think on this board we have a '20/20 Challenge' where each week there is a new and exciting challenge, I think they are currently in week 2.

We had a monthly challenge that ran for a while but it dies out due to lack of interest, perhaps it should be brought back?

Judging from my time on these forums, it would seem that the CSE section can only sustainably support about 3-5 challenges, and even then, most of the traffic and participants are in yours and Gundo's, other challenges which come along later get initial interest (like mine) but then people seem to drift off and only one or two people carry on.

As has befallen both mine and the British and India Challenge. Both of which were, in my opinion, great ideas, concepts, and challenges which should have received more interest than they have.

I'd say at the present there are at least 10 active Challenges:

1. Another team from scratch
2. JoseRR's small club from big nation
3. Gundo's
4. dafuge's
5. robert's is kind of a challenge
6. The Career Thread
7. Everton_3_0_Liverpool's kind of all in one challenge
8. San Marino Double 08
9. Wallace V Roberts
10. The New Improved 20/20 challenge
11. The Purity of English Football

And i'm sure there are others that are active from time to time

Hi everyone,

I'm not going to reveal any specific details, but the nominations panel met last weekend and after 3+ hours of discussions the nominations have been drawn up.

Feel free to mention any awards categories that should be mentioned in here, but please bear in mind (and don't take any offence) that your suggestion may be completely ignored or may already be included (there's certainly enough of them)! :D

We are currently in the finalising stages of the format of the awards, so after birdy is back you might be able to expect something within the next 2 weeks being announced.

ps: If any newcomer award was to be / has been made, it would be based on the 12 months since the last awards, not just the last month or so. :)

Yeah but even after the first update about 10 people posted of the 40 that originally signed up.

I don't see the point of doing updates with the interest so low.

The sign up that me and Robert are now running is going well though as there is good interest and updates are a lot quicker to do.

Guys, if you want to know the type of awards that will be given out, go have a look at last year's forum awards (will be on the 2nd page of this forum probably). It's not an identical format but will give you a sample of the type of awards being run.

Otherwise, a little patience and all will be revealed soon enough.

Not sure yet. I'll let you know when the voting is coming to an end. I probably won't need any help if 5 people vote, but if we get a good amount, then I probably will!

Thanks for the offer :)

Myself and birdy deliberated this and we felt that the way he contributes to the forum (excluding his mod duties) makes him deserve a nomination.

Plus he hasn't been a mod for the whole of the past 12 months.

Slightly surprised at 'Disharmony' finding it's way onto the nominations! Cool though. I'm still toying with the idea of ressurrecting it as a sign up - a fairly light version of one, given that I wouldn't propose overly frequent updates - but a sign up nonetheless. I think that might be the best way to encourage me to get on with it...

Have fun counting as well although it can't be anywhere near as difficult as counting BOTU results!! (don't ever offer to do that..)

:D well dafuge is the 'father figure' and jimbo seemed to go into the off topic thread every now and again, depart some knowledge, say how it wasn't like the old days, moan he couldn't get the hang of online games and then disappear into the night again.

It was decided that the 'User of the future' nominees would only be people who have emerged quite recently onto the forum. As your AI Experiment was started last November we felt that you were more of a regular / senior member of the board.

Ah, I would of thought eligible users of the future would be the person who became active in this forum since the last awards.

In which case, perhaps there should be a separate award for best new user since last awards :D

Haha :D

The 'user of the future' award was really a last minute add on, that came about as whilst we were going through the nominations, it was noticed that there wasn't really anything for people who have only recently come onto the forum in the last few months, most of you guys who have been around regularly since last year have a nomination in the other categories!

Plus it worked well with the 'most missed user' and the other awards - you know looking back, the present, looking forward and all that guff! ;) :D

Shi... err... I mean damn-it-all, I've been out all day today, and will be out all day tomorrow. I'm going to have no time to count these votes if the awards ceremony is to be on Friday night :(

So basically two options;

1) A few of you lot be really kind and lovely and count them for me, then email the standings to me, with how many votes each nomination got.
2) We do the awards next week sometime (can't specify when I'm afraid).

Up to you lot really.
