ryan_sacfc
I was just wondering whether you could be offered a national U23/21/19 post while at a club, even though you can't start as one like stuart pearce was doing for a bit
peter-evo
I don't think it is possible as I have not seen it mentioned on these forums.
Neji
Yes you can.
peter-evo
Yes you can. Really, I thought you were hired as the national coach and then coached the others as well. Why did I think this?
Neji
Sorry peter When you take over a national job, I believe you hire managers for the younger teams. I was offered the Italy U21 (or U19 - can't remember) in my 09 save. I rejected it though.
MeLikeFM
serious can you apply
Galactus
Oh wow, what criteria do you think these offers are based on? Infact being friendly with the national boss would help I guess.
Neji
I don't think you can apply. I was an English manager doing quite well in Serie A when I got the offer.
peter-evo
Thanks for clearing that up Neji, has it always been like this?
Ozzy38
'Always' as in the past few years at least.
MSCCG
It doesn't actually do anything though. You don't get recognised for it at all in the game, and you get pretty much no rep for winning or losing tournament. The good thing is though, you would know alot of the young players in the squad to buy if you were also coaching in the country.
Ozzy38
It doesn't actually do anything though. Yes it does, it lets you manage a different kind of team.
stinger061
It provides an interesting view on things. I was France Under 21's manager on FM08, it's a challenge when you lose a group of serious talents because they get to old.
Neji
Thanks for clearing that up Neji, has it always been like this? Not usre for how long but it was definately in 08 aswell.
BenArsenal
You can. I was offered the South Korea U-21 job. Apparantely because there were no other suitable candidates.
